By the time we got to Zanzibar, it had been a very long day!

After being on the road, literally all night, we arrived at the compound at 5am and I figured, what was the point in even sleeping, since we had to have breakfast by 7:30am to catch the ferry to Zanzibar!

We stuck it out and once we arrived at Zanzibar, we were given the option of staying home to rest, but that's just not how Blue Cast rolls.

The tour through this stone jungle was unbelievably enlightening!!

We visited several places, including a Hindu temple, Zanzibar's first Christian church, the market,  and more!

Our tour guide took us to see the different doors designed by slaves in Zanzibar.

The doors with with rectangled top were for Arabic households

and the arched doors were for Indian households.

Also, there are some disparities within the meaning of the door decorations.

While in Bagamoyo we learned chains sketched into the door signified the home owner had slaves, in Zanzibar we were told the chains were put in as a protection against evil spirits.
