In this tab, you will list your various awards and honors alongside any and all of your campus involvement and service.

If you choose, you can make awards and service into two separate tabs.  You should decide now as it is very time-consuming to create a new tab and put old pages into it.  For an example of an ePort with two separate tabs for awards, honors and service, click here.

If you want a separate tab for awards and honors, make it almost like a resume (these items might also be on your resume) like you see with the ePort to the left (click here to see the site).  These listed items will be highlighted with your writing in the left tab.

Just remember that you are building a site and professional identity, not finalizing that.   You still have time to discover what is important to you and distinguish yourself even more than you already have.

Notice that the soundtrack for this page is Stevie Wonder's "You Haven't Done Nothin."  In this song, "DOING NOTHIN" is when you turn a blind eye to other people's needs and struggles and the issues of social justice in the world (he was actually talking to Nixon in this 1974 song).  College is NOT the place where you DO NOTHIN.  Think deeply about the impact that you want to have on the campus community and wider social environment. Get involved. Represent that here.

In this session, we are going to work on a narrative that gives an overview of your service and honors/awards.  In your narrative, explain the following:

  1. Tell us about why these specific honors and awards are important to you. What did you learn about yourself?
  2. Tell us about the specific kind of service that you do.  Why is this work something that you are passionate about?

Try to write at least 350 words here and include an image.  You can start on this early or work on it in the session.  Please also look at the demo page to see what the left tabs should do.

Here is a strong example of a student who graduated in 2012.
