David

Hello everyone. My name is David Ariel Pinedo. I am a twenty-one year old human being who goes to John Jay college of criminal justice pursuing a bachelor's degree in Criminology. I am also pursuing justice. Today we live in a world where there are many injustices.

I was born in the year of the pig on August 4th 1995 and I am of Peruvian descent. I speak three languages: Spanish and English and just a little bit of portuguese. I hope to travel many countries in Latin America to pursue justice.

Throughout my life I have continually encountered poverty and racism. I believe that we as human beings deserve to live in a peaceful world without boundaries and borders. The animals of this world live in peace. They don’t have a  government. They don’t live in poverty. They don’t pay taxes. They are not racist. They don’t have jobs.  Why can’t we live the same lifestyle they do?

I hate advertising, media, and the ones in charge of military funding. You want to watch a video on youtube ? Okay then you have to watch an advertisement. You need to take a bus to another neighborhood? There are advertisements inside the bus or outside on the street. Why can’t we just live in a world without advertising? I hate the people in charge of military funding because they spend billions of dollars on weapons and bombs to mutilate and demolish people when instead they should be using the billions of dollars to assist others.

A perfect day for me is a day where I help others in need and not turn the other way.

Many people are born with a sex they do not feel comfortable with. At some points they feel trapped. Many ignorant people further persecute and discriminate them because according to their ideology it is “wrong.”  Why the hell do you care and judge so much?

There are many people who are transgender and face these negative aspects in life. One beautiful transgender person who inspires me is Jazz Jennings.

Jazz Jennings is a sixteen year old transgender girl. As she started to get older, she did not feel comfortable as a boy. It is unfortunate that this little girl has to face the fact that she has male sex parts. How would one like it if they woke up one day having the wrong sex part? One would probably feel ashamed, embarrassed, and depressed.

Although there are many people who judge her and make fun of her, there are also people out there who support Jazz’s decision. Jazz is beautiful in many ways, especially as is an activist for young people who feel trapped. She has inspired many young transgender people who are embarrassed to come out of their shell.

One positive factor for Jazz is that she has taken hormone therapy at a very young age. Many people wouldn’t even consider doing that until later in life. But Jazz is a strong and courageous person who took action.
