Watch/view all three of these interactive studies of life in New York City.  After watching all three, you will choose the text that you would MOST like to create yourself.

I.

If you would like to create a digital essay about your own life in New York City or the life of a relative, you will model yourself after the interactive video that NPR (National Public Radio) created of Sonia Sotomayor's book, My Beloved World (named after her neighborhood in the Bronx).  Click the image below for the weblink to this interactive video (watch the entire 10-minute video).  If you did not grow up in NYC, this project still applies to you!  Just make sure that you include your recent move to NYC somewhere in any of your narratives.

II.

If you would like to look at a social issue facing a certain community, group of peple, or person in New York City, you will model yourself after the digital Tumblr essay created by Braden Ruddy, "Street Vendors of Roosevelt Avenue: A Photo Essay Examining the Informal Economy and Latin American Culture in Queens."   Click the image below for the weblink to this interactive webpage (click through and read the entire essay).

III.

If you would like to look at some specific aspect of digital culture, especially SELFIE culture, as it relates to New Yorkers in a systematic way, you will model yourself after the digital project, Selfie City (selfiecity.net).  You should plan to do your own selfie-research project unless you have a different digital tool you will use besides selfies. Click the image below for the weblink to this website (spend some time at the selfiexploratory tab and focus in on NYC).

Watch/browse all three of these digital projects related to New York City.  After you have clicked all three of these sites, then chose ONE that you will focus on. You will need to read more intensely about ONE of these three projects.  Choose the one that you think you would most like to create yourself.
