If you would like to create a digital essay about your own life in New York City or the life of a relative, you will model yourself after the interactive video that NPR (National Public Radio) created of Sonia Sotomayor's book, My Beloved World (named after her neighborhood in the Bronx). If you would like to look at a social issue facing a certain community, group of peple, or person in New York City, you will model yourself after the digital Tumblr essay created by Braden Ruddy, "Street Vendors of Roosevelt Avenue: A Photo Essay Examining the Informal Economy and Latin American Culture in Queens." If you would like to look at some specific aspect of digital culture, especially SELFIE culture, as it relates to New Yorkers in a systematic way, you will model yourself after the digital project, Selfie City (selfiecity.net). You should plan to do your own selfie-research project unless you have a different digital tool you will use besides selfies.
