You will re-mix your own soundtrack for this project using three songs (minimum). You have one of two choices for your soundtrack:
CHOICE ONE: You can choose an instrumental and then lay two songs (with lyrics) on top of that instrumental.
CHOICE TWO: You can blend three songs using beat-matching in either a mash-up format or a fade-in/fade-out method.
For those of you who are novices to music mixing, you can, in the least, mix lyrics/messages from a few songs like the soundtrack created for this course (listen below):
This project starts with WRITING: the story that YOU want to tell. Because this is a story that you need to record, the first element of our soundtrack work will be creating an mp3 of your voice speaking your story. If you have multiple voices for multiple people in the story, they need to be recorded also. You have a few choices for this:
- You can use your phone.
- You can use your computer.
- You can use AUDACITY. This means that you will need to download the software onto your computer (it is free). You will have to read the directions carefully on the website for how to download this software, because there will be no demonstration of this for you. Click here for MAC. Click here for WINDOWS.
Whatever method you choose, come to class with your voice recorded. There will be NO demonstration of this for you. In the end, you will need to work with mp3 only in the PC lab! Do a search on google to find out how to transform song files on your MAC or iPhone to mp3.
|Part Two: The Basics of Audacity|
You will be mixing or mashing at least 3 songs. Come to class with at least 3 songs in mp3 format and read the basic introduction to Audacity below. We will work on this together in class.
