I read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lack in my Bio 33 class. Initially I had no interest in the book, eventually when I did start reading it I was unable to put it down. The book tells the story of Henrietta Lacks and how her cancer cells became the highlight of the medical field. The book speaks on the issues of ethics within the medical field, race and class. This book touched me not only as a student but as an African American woman. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is a heartfelt, groundbreaking story that exposed many eithical issues within the medical community to the world.
