This study explores how student loan debt affects the nation, it’s students, and their families. It targets men and women between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five who have student loans or student loan debt because these people are the ones that are most affected by the topic. The interviews for this survey will be conducted during the school day at various colleges. There will be two to three research participants, meaning that there will be two or three interviews conducted. This may be a small number but it is a comprehensive number with the time given to do this research study. The interviews will be semi-structured, which means that I will lead the interviews with questions but let the questions lead into other discussion. The semi-structured standpoint is the best option because it allows you to pick people’s brains and still be in control of the interview. Interviews will be audibly recorded using my personal iPhone 4. The questions that will be asked during the interviews will include but are not limited to: (1) How much student loan debt do/will you have? (2) Do you fully understand how student loans work and what happens throughout the whole process? (3) Are you able to pay back your student loans at this time? (4) Did you receive all the information you needed to take out a loan? (5) How much, if any, pressure or anxiety is caused by your student loan debt? (6) Do you think you will ever pay back your student loans?
