My name is Lorraine Fernandes and I am currently majoring in International Criminal Justice and I intened to also major in Economics. I'm a freshman at John Jay College and part of the Honors Program. I am a resident of Staten Island, but I love the city and everything that the city offers, including the diversity of cultures, people, and perspectives. John Jay College was and is the perfect college for me as it has everything that I want and even things that I didn't know that I wanted from a college, such as the numerous social justice clubs. At this moment, my future career is to be a lawyer since I want to help individuals, groups, and organizations with their legal problems and in turn help the public good. Narrowing my career goals a little further, I want to help either individuals through human rights, through economics, or finding the perfect career that does both. I believe that though I won't make a defined significant mark on the world, I can make a mark in someone's life and that is more than enough for me. With the academic and non-academic opportunities offered at John Jay, I believe I will be successful in pursuing not my dreams, but my future reality.

As for the reason behind this ePortfolio, I created this ePortfolio to showcase my journey academically and non-academically since both constitute impactful parts to who I am and who I am becoming and seeing the progress of this large part of my life is something that I want to be aware of and treasure.
