Mazatlan, Sinaloa is located along the coast of Mexico. Having traveled to Torreon fro the winter break, my sister and I along with our cousins decided to go to Mazatlan. Before going I had heard about the state of Sinaloa and the many negative connotations due to the high activity of cartels and drug trafficking. However, my sister and I decided that we still wanted to go and visit Mazatlan despite the negative associations and to our surprise, it was not as many had described it. Mazatlan was a place of tourism, meaning the majority of the people we saw throughout the streets and transportation were tourists resulting in high numbers of police patrolling the streets and low crime activity.
