Nitza Milagros Escalera serves as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Diversity Initiatives at Fordham Law. Her responsibilities include orientation, graduation, academic and personal counseling activities, accommodations for students with disabilities, and advising student organizations. In her position as Assistant Dean of Diversity Initiatives, she collaborates with the Fordham Law community to develop and implement programs that enhance Fordham Law School's commitment to diversity and inclusion.  At John Jay, Dean Escalera serves as an adjunct professor where she teaches a first year seminar on Social Justice and Law as well as a course on Race and Ethnicity with a focus on the Latino and Hispanic experience in the United States. Dean Escalera has also had the opportunity to teach Human Rights and Law in Latin America.  Currently, Dean Escalera is a founder and member of the Board of Directors of Friends of PASOS: A Museum and Center for Peacebuilding, Inc. www.pasospeacemuseum.org
