We hate to admit it but sometimes our moms are right, and sometimes the little cliches they embed into our head are actually worth remembering. For me, if there is one thing that I can honestly say that I have learned from my mother it is to always have character, personality and to stand up for what you believe in. Thus, why I chose the quote, "Don't be afraid to stand for what you believe in, even if that means to stand alone," as my header for my e-Portfolio. It is a saying that I have not only been told by someone I admire, but it's a saying that I honestly live by.

I am not a shy person; I might not always have something to say in situations but when it is time for me to voice my opinion, I will. For example, my senior year of high school, I witnessed a kid being bullied (Something I refuse to allow occur in my presence) in the hallways and I got in the middle of it and said something to the kid. Mind you, I did not know this person, and I was actually quite small compared to him but I wasn't afraid, not even for a second and I think it's becuase of what my mom taught me; it's about having character and standing for what you believe in- even if that means you are standing alone.

Moreover, I chose the background of my e-Portfolio to be a calm orange color. Besides the fact that it flows with my header, orange also means determination, success, and encouragement. Which, as an undergraduate student aiming far and high, are all qualities that I need in order to get where I someday hope to be.

Additionally, the song playing at the top of this page is called, "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack. My mom dedicated this song to me when I was younger and it serves as a reminder to always be curious, be wondrous, and be grateful - which ties in with the title of my e-Portfolio, "Not all those who wander, are lost." At 19 years of age, I don't have it all figured out, and not all my goals are clear, but I am perfectly fine with that. I don't mind taking things day-by-day because I am still trying to figure myself out and what I am capable of. So although I don't always know what I want or where I am headed, I am not lost - just wandering.

Lastly, the landing page is a quote by Amelia Earhart, the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Her quote, "The most difficult thing is the decision to act the rest is merely tenacity," pertains to me and this page because finding the inner courage to actually voice your opinion is the hardest part about standing for what you believe in, the rest is strictly determination and character.
