Hello everyone!

 

Below are more extra credit oppurtunities you can take advantage of. These are a variety of campus resources specifically geared torward First Year Seminars and Learning Communities. 

 
·         Peer-to-Peer Extravaganza (SASP): September 22, 1:40-2:40pm in 6.68. Students will learn about different aspects of life at John Jay while connecting with peer leaders.
 
·         Get the Scoop: Ice Cream Social with Your Professors (SASP): September 30, 1:40-2:40pm in 6.68. Students will have an opportunity to connect with faculty and get tips from them on how to succeed at John Jay and beyond.
 
·         Center for Career and Professional Development: The Career Center has created workshops to suit the needs, interests, and goals of our first-year students, including a general introduction to services, career assessments, resume development geared toward freshmen, professional branding through social media, and much more. Make an appointment and take advantage of their services. 
 
·         Get Ahead with Tutoring: On September 16, 2014 from 1:40-2:40pm in L2.85, students can meet with Learning Center representatives to hear how tutoring helps good students become great! Representatives from the Math and Science Resource Center (MSRC), the Modern Language Center (MLC), the Writing Center, and the Percy Ellis Sutton SEEK Support Centers for the Humanities  & Social Sciences and Math & Science will give students an overview of what each center provides and how to best take advantage of these resources.
 
·         Academic Advisement Center: The Academic Advisement Center will host an open house on September 29, 2014 from 1:40-2:40 in L.73. Students can connect with Academic Peer Advisors and explore academic advising as a resource for course planning and developing their academic interests. Important information about upcoming events, such as early advisement and registration, will be covered. Light snacks will be served.
