Hello Folks,
This week we are beginning our journey away from thinking about gentrification in terms of displacement and privilege and moving towards discussing the history of NYC through the lens of art, artists, sexuality, culture and commerce. Chauncey started us on this road with his Gay New York piece and now we are pursuing this line of inquiry full steam ahead. That being the case, below there's a link that's especially important in contextualizing the Dowd reading in addition to some key words I have divided into three categories. Look over these lists. Look up some of these people, places and concepts. Bring the reading to life! (By the way, the lists are in no particular order.)
